Côtes du Rhône red 2020 : Two stars and a half (Excellent/Extraordinary)We’re seeing more of this style of wine, and thank goodness: Excellent quality fruit, well-tended in the vineyard and minimally processed in the winery with little oak influence, and released less than a year after the vintage. Simple, straightforward and delicious. This CdR still packs a punch — exuberant up-front fruit, with cherry and berry flavors, some wild herbs characteristic of the Rhône, and soft, ripe tannins to carry it home. Savor this now or in the next few years with hearty roasts or grilled meats. Organic.

Côtes du Rhône red 2020 : Best Buy : This 100% certified biodynamic Rhône blend is lively and vibrant, with primary flavors of crab apple, plum, green pear, prune, black olive and licorice stick. The fine, sandy texture with a lengthy, pulverized-black-peppercorn finish makes this a fun pairing with braised meat dishes and stews.

Cairanne Vielles Vignes red 2019 got 91 by the Wine Enthusiast's magazine : Unoaked and resplendent in fruit, this full-bodied, vibrant red highlights pristine blackberry and raspberry flavors cut by firm strikes of granite and a dazzling acidic backbone. A blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 20% Carignan, it's thirst-quenching when young but should maintain its vitality through 2024.

Côtes du Rhône red 2019 got 90 by the Wine Enthusiast's magazine : This blend of 50% Grenache, 30% Carignan and 20% Mourvèdre offers decadent, juicy black-plum and blueberry flavors accented by whispers of lilac, crushed earth and charred cinnamon. While moderately full bodied and voluminous on the palate, it's a freshly balanced, delicately tannic red that should drink well through 2024 at least.

Côtes du Rhône white 2019 got 90 by the Wine Enthusiast's magazine : Stony, mineral tones on the nose open into charming white peach and honey on the palate of this plush yet freshly balanced dry white. A blend of equal parts Roussanne, Viognier, Clairette and Bourboulenc, it's ripe and fleshy but invigoratingly mineral on the midpalate, too. Best now–2024.
